more sustainable materials
the basic material of our styles
We focus on the use of sustainable materials in the production of our collections. The majority of T-shirts and sweaters are now made from organic cotton, and many knitwear styles are now also produced from this material. We are also increasingly using recycled materials such as recycled polyester and recycled nylon, especially for jackets and fleece styles. We have also been using the natural material cork for a long time to make accessories such as caps, wallets and belts. In recent collections, we have added sustainable materials such as hemp, TENCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose fibers. Some accessories are made from the innovative material AppleSkin™ from the company Vegatex, which is produced from apple pomace, among other things.
We have been using exclusively vegan materials for almost all of our items for a long time. Materials such as artificial wool, synthetic leather or cork are great alternatives to animal materials. All vegan IRIEDAILY items are now also certified by PETA!
ORGANIC COTTON
Organic cotton is a basic material in the sustainable textile industry. The cultivation of organic cotton is free of artificial pesticides and fertilizers. In addition, the farmland can be cultivated for several years. In addition, organic cotton is easy to recycle and biodegradable.
RECYCLED POLYESTER
IRIEDAILY mainly uses certified recycled polyester, which is made from post-consumer PET. Post-consumer PET is called rPET and is made from used plastic such as plastic packaging and drinking bottles from the end consumer.
RECYCLED NYLON
Recycled nylon comes from the remnants of the processing industry, which manufactures a variety of products from nylon. Nylon is a very robust fiber and is ideal for the production of jackets and accessories, for example. By using recycled nylon, scarce resources such as crude oil are conserved in the long term.
HANF
The great masterpiece of nature! As a textile material long burdened with many prejudices, hemp now seems to be the "salvation" of the modern sustainable textile industry. In contrast to cotton, the hemp plant requires less water, is more productive, does not need pesticides or artificial fertilizers to grow and grows faster than cotton. In addition, hemp can be used to produce a wide variety of fiber strengths, making the "scratchy" image of hemp material obsolete.
CORK
IRIEDAILY has been using this natural material for a long time, especially in the accessories sector. But cork is also a beautiful gift from nature! But what is cork or how is it obtained? Quite simply, cork is simply the bark of the cork oak. The bark is obtained without cutting or damaging the tree. In addition, a peeled cork oak binds more carbon dioxide than an unpeeled one. The largest cork forests are in Portugal and Spain and are an important part of the local ecosystem!
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ VISCOSE
Some IRIEDAILY products are now made from the environmentally friendly and sustainable LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose fiber from the Austrian company Lenzing. LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose fiber is made from wood and pulp from sustainable forestry. By contrast, the production of conventional viscose, which is used as a vegan alternative to silk, is only possible with the use of a lot of chemicals and high water consumption. We are therefore all the happier to have found an environmentally friendly alternative. LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose has even been awarded the EU Ecolabel! This label is only awarded to products or services that are manufactured in an environmentally friendly way.
TENCEL™
The sustainable natural fiber TENCEL™ from the Austrian company LENZING ™ is obtained from certified renewable wood sources and is the most environmentally friendly cellulose-based fiber currently available on the market. Lenzing uses local beech wood and eucalyptus, which can be grown without artificial fertilizers and pesticides and is therefore free of chemical additives. TENCEL™ is fully biodegradable and compostable, has a smooth texture and a silky feel. Cools like linen, warms like sheep's wool. Cheers to TENCEL™!
