DIBELLA & SCC FACTORY

For geopolitical reasons, we have decided to diversify our supply chain. After extensive research, we came across the Indian supplier Dibella (Bangalore site) and its own Sustainable Crafted Clothing Factory (SCC Factory) in Salem, which meets our strict requirements in terms of fair, sustainable and social production. Since the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, the production of some styles has now been relocated to India, initially 2% of our production volume. Of course, we remain loyal to our producers in Portugal!

What convinced us about SCC Favtory was not only that it has the most important certifications such as GOTS, GRS, FairTrade Cotton, BSCI, Oeko-Tex 100 and Sedex, but also that another FWF member also produces there. The factory therefore already has a wealth of experience in monitoring fair working conditions on site and knows what high demands we place on a production facility.

To see the production facility for ourselves, our CSR team traveled to India and visited the supplier Dibella and the SCC Factory. We present all the social, sustainable and fair aspects of production here in the film and below in the text!

Fair working conditions thanks to Dibella at the SCC Factory

The supplier Dibella pays its workers more than the usual minimum wage. It gives us so much transparency when calculating prices that our prices make it possible to pay a higher wage for the manufacture of our products. We will increase this to a living wage in the coming seasons.

Dibella offers development programs for all SCC Factory employees, enabling them to receive further training and take on better-paid positions thanks to their increased knowledge. The promotion of the female workforce is particularly important to the producer. That is why we participate in the STITCH program. Here, female employees are trained as supervisors and thus gain the opportunity to take on management positions.

Of course, fair working conditions also include a clean, friendly and safe working environment in which employees feel comfortable. Our CSR team was able to see a very hygienic workplace for itself on site and was very pleased that there were also plenty of gender-separated toilets for the benefit of women.

A fair and social working environment is created above all by the employer's commitment to its employees, and the SCC Factory offers a free bus service, which makes it easier for all employees to organize their commutes and provides further protection for women to get to and from work safely. Dibella co-finances half of the cost of lunch in the canteen.

There is also an elementary school and a kindergarten right next to the factory and guaranteed school and health care for all employees, farmers and their families. The school buildings are home to 1400 children and young people, who can complete their education here up to the 10th grade, and the company's own infirmary provides all employees with direct and uncomplicated medical care.

SUSTAINABILITY: TEXTILE AND WORK PROCESS

In addition to the aforementioned GOTS certification, the SCC Factory has a network of 3,300 cotton farmers who produce exclusively for the supplier Dibella. This ensures close and fair cooperation, quality control and complete transparency in the supply chain:

From the cultivation of regenerative organic cotton to the production of the textile!

99% of the water used in the dyeing process is recycled and returned to the work process. The required energy of the factory is covered by 80% solar energy and thus saves a lot of resources! To create a good and safe working environment, a lot of artificial light is normally needed. But not so with the SCC Factory, because a modern window construction creates maximum illumination of the factory without electricity.
